GoDepartment of Urban & Regional Planning
The Department of Urban & Regional Planning offers four certificate programs. Specializations are offered in Economic Development and Tourism, Environmental Planning, Sustainable Community Planning, and Visual Planning Technology. Each specialization is structured to include an introductory course, a methods course and a policy course. Students also have the option of tailoring their own specialization with the approval of a faculty advisor.
GoJohn Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government (IOG)
Established in 1982 as an affiliate of the Florida Institute of Government to address the needs of state, regional, and local governments and non-profit agencies in our 10-county region covering Broward, Glades, Hendry, Indian River, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties.
- IOG Upcoming Training Programs
The Institute's training program for local governments includes a variety of workshops for personnel at all levels. The program is designed to provide participants with training programs to enhance the management skills and decision-making abilities of public officials and non-profit personnel.
GoFlorida Institute for Safety and Construction (FISC)
The mission of the Florida Institute for Safety and Construction is to provide south Florida workers with effective training for Workplace Safety, Construction Management and Technology at an affordable price by bringing students together in the classroom with highly qualified instructors in cooperation with local professional organizations.
- Safety Science Program
With the increased concern of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) over the high accident and fatality rate in our community, as expressed in the OSHA Construction Accident Reduction Emphasis (CARE) program, FISC has developed the most extensive education program for the construction industry, as well as general industry, aviation ground safety and medical fields.
- Construction Technology
With a productive partnership with the American Society of Professional Estimators, which has proven to be of great value to students and the employers who have hired them, Construction Technology includes a wide range of skills required of construction professionals to advance both in value and marketability.
- Construction Management
In collaboration with the Palm Beach County Resource Center, the Construction Management Certificate Program (CMCP) meets the training needs of the construction industry by calling on recognized leaders, trainers, and course designers to provide effective and comprehensive training in construction management.
GoVisual Planning Technology Lab (VPT)
Celebrating over 11 years of empowering local governments by using GIS technology as a valuable planning tool for decision-makers, the Visual Planning Technology (VPT) Lab continues to enhance its role in GIS and other “spatially-enabled” technologies. Located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale, VPT has four missions: Applied Research, Teaching, Professional Development, and Community Service.

Child Welfare Institute Web Learning Center
The Web Learning Center is a source of accessible, substantive, affordable continuing education for practitioners in the helping professions. This web site was developed and is maintained by the School of Social Work's Child Welfare Institute.
