GoAnthony James Catanese Center for Urban & Environmental Solutions (CUES)
The Anthony James Catanese Center for Urban & Environmental Solutions' mission is to work with policy-makers and the public in their pursuit of options for managing growth while preserving natural systems, promoting a strong economy and planning livable communities. The center achieves its mission through a combination of applied research, academic support, and community outreach. Our faculty and staff include a full-time director, nine full-time research associates and assistants, four administrative and clerical support staff, coordinators of computer applications and research information, and graduate assistants. The research staff is multi-disciplinary with expertise in planning, public policy, economics, and the social sciences. We also rely on partnerships with other entities within and outside Florida Atlantic University to maximize our resources and enhance our ability to serve the needs of a growing South Florida.
GoCenter for Urban Redevelopment & Education (CURE)
The Center for Urban Redevelopment and Empowerment dates back to 1992, when Florida Legislature provided FAU-CURE special funds to undertake economic and community development research, training, and consulting services to low-income, mostly minority populations along the I-95 corridor in Southeast Florida. FAU-CURE collaborates extensively with human services providers, community development corporations, and grassroots groups.
GoCommunity Justice Institute (CJI)
The Community Justice Institute (CJI), a research center of the College of Architecture, Urban and Public Affairs at Florida Atlantic University, enhances public safety and community prevention objectives while also addressing the university's research and service mission. The specific objective of the CJI is to serve as a conduit for local, state, and national research, training, technical assistance, and education related to initiatives which seek to involve citizens and neighborhood groups in prevention, sanctioning, offender reintegration, and victim restoration. Such initiatives include, but are not limited to, community policing, citizen sanctioning panels, community service, family group conferencing, victim-offender dialogue, youth development, and mentoring/service learning initiatives. The CJI has a cross-disciplinary approach and utilizes faculty from the College and University.
GoJohn Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government (IOG)
Established in 1982 as an affiliate of the Florida Institute of Government to address the needs of state, regional, and local governments and non-profit agencies in our 10-county region covering Broward, Glades, Hendry, Indian River, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties.
GoFlorida Institute for Safety and Construction (FISC)
The mission of the Florida Institute for Safety and Construction is to provide south Florida workers with effective training for Workplace Safety, Construction Management and Technology at an affordable price by bringing students together in the classroom with highly qualified instructors in cooperation with local professional organizations.
GoPublic Procurement Research Center (PPRC)
The mission of the Public Procurement Research Center is to assist the NIGP in providing research and technical assistance, education and training, and publications. The Center, launched in 1999, has now completed its initial formulation and strategic planning and is on the verge of articulating and expanding its services for the over 500,000 government procurement professionals in the United States and numerous counterparts in other countries, including Canada, Ireland, etc.
GoVisual Planning Technology Lab (VPT Lab)
Celebrating over 11 years of empowering local governments by using GIS technology as a valuable planning tool for decision-makers, the Visual Planning Technology (VPT) Lab continues to enhance its role in GIS and other “spatially-enabled” technologies. Located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale, VPT has four missions: Applied Research, Teaching, Professional Development, and Community Service.
