
Spring 2006 Student Activities
Jack Kindberg (far left), president of studio operations and administration at Sony Pictures Studios, Maria Marill (second from right), vice president of studio operations at Sony and DeSantis Center Director Bruce Mallen (far right) are shown with participants in the 2006 DeSantis Center Motion Picture Industry Study Tour to Los Angeles. The students toured the Sony facilities prior to meeting with Kindberg and Marill. This marked the third year the DeSantis Center has provided scholarships for students to participate in the study tour which was coordinated and led by DeSantis Center Associate Director Rob Davis.
Israeli filmmaker Dan Katzir (seated foreground) is shown with some of the film business students who attended a special presentation he delivered during the spring semester of 2006 while at FAU to screen his film, "Out for Love...Be Back Shortly" as the opening selection of the Florida-Israel Institute Film Series. Special guests Josh Alexander (4th from left) and Mark Rosenthal (5th from left) are shown with some of the film business students who attended a special presentation in spring semester 2006 during which Alexander showed clips and shared experiences about the making of "Backseat, an independent film winning audience and critical praise around the country. Alexander wrote, produced and stars in the film in which Rosenthal also appears.
Filmmaker Florence Seidelman talked with students during the spring semester of 2006 about the making of her film Boynton Beach Club.
