Rhonda_Goodman_PhotoThe keynote speaker for this year's Freshman Convocation is the 2013 Distinguished Teacher of the Year Dr. Rhonda Goodman, Assistant Professor in the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing. The Distinguished Teacher of the Year (DToY) is Florida Atlantic University’s highest recognition of teaching University-wide. The DToY is nominated and selected by students and is presented on the basis of scholarship, research and publications, classroom teaching, experience, academic counseling, concern and involvement in students' activities, and University and community services.

FAU recognized Goodman for her record of involving her students in global outreach efforts. Dr. Goodman is the founder and president of the Center for Community Wellness at Katete/St. Mary’s, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) charity that she established to promote and support community-based education and access to health care for children residing in southwestern Uganda.

I am so proud of Rhonda,” said Dr. Marlaine C. Smith, dean and Helen K. Persson Eminent Scholar for the College of Nursing. “Her dedication to the study and teaching of caring in nursing represents the passion and purpose of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing.”
