Faculty's Role in the Convocation
The Freshman Convocation is the official beginning of first-time-in-college students' entry into Florida Atlantic University. As a faculty member, you are here in large part because of the
extraordinary students who are our partners in the exploration for knowledge. You are the heart
and soul of the academic enterprise at FAU and your attendance at the Freshman Convocation represents your commitment to FAU's newest members of the community of learners.
Date
The Freshman Convocation will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2012, the day before the first day of fall semester classes.
Time
The 45-minute ceremony will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m. All faculty and staff will be asked to line up starting at 12:45 p.m. for the processional into the auditorium.
Seating
Staff will assemble in the art gallery hallway inside the Auditorium and Faculty will assemble outside the Majestic Palm room starting at 12:45 p.m. for the procession into the auditorium.
Staff will process first and will be led by an event coordinator to the seating area left of stage.
Faculty will be led by an event coordinator to sit on stage.
Location
The Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium is located inside the Student Union building. The Student Union (UN-31 on the campus map) is located on the east side of West University Drive. The main entrance from Glades Road onto West University Drive is the best route to take. Convenient parking is located in front of the Student Union in Lot 16 or you may park in Parking Garage I (PK-81 on the campus map). This garage is north of the Student Union. Dress
All faculty are asked to wear their regalia. Staff who have earned a Ph.D. are also invited to wear their regalia.
