The mission of Florida Atlantic University Counseling & Psychological Services is to provide FAU students with quality, individualized, timely, and effective mental health services that allow them to improve and maintain their mental well-being and therefore to meet their educational, personal, emotional, and psychological goals. CAPS further supports FAU students by providing training, consultation, and outreach programming to students, faculty and staff so that they might better respond to the psychological needs of students. CAPS also trains graduate students in the provision of short-term psychological care and contributes to the university’s culture of research.
The staff at CAPS highly values our training program and is fully committed to providing quality training through supervision, training seminars, co-leading group therapy with senior staff, case conference, supervision of supervision, assessment, outreach, consultation, ect. We view interns as part of our staff and value team building, collaboration, and process-oriented discussions that involve introspection and awareness of one’s own biases. Our center is fast-paced, yet we dedicate time to consult, encourage self-care, support and encourage one another, and have an open-door environment.
