Ongoing evaluation of interns is an integral part of the program. Interns are provided with a copy of the evaluation criteria they will be rated on. Written evaluations of an intern’s performance are made six times during the year, at the midpoint and end of each semester.
The focus of the evaluation is the doctoral intern’s ability to achieve and demonstrate the core competencies identified for our training program. Interns demonstrate successful attainment of the objectives and competencies of our program by earning a minimum average rating of 4 on every section of their evaluation related to clinical work and professional behavior . This is required to successfully complete the Internship. Within each specific objective, a minimum rating of 3 on any specific item(s)is required.
The rationale for passing an intern with an average rating of 3 on supervision, outreach and consultation is that many interns typically receive less training in these areas compared to others.
