Please be advised that prior to disbursement, the financial aid amounts which appear on your account are estimated amounts which may be adjusted due to several factors (such as changes in classification, enrollment, residency status, or financial resources). It is your responsibility to be aware of the terms and conditions of all financial aid awards, including all requirements regarding tuition deferments and financial aid disbursements. Florida Medallion and Florida Gold Seal Scholarship Recipients:
Florida Medallion and Florida Gold Seal recipients should be advised that prior to disbursement, the amount which appears on the students account is an amount based on an estimated 15 credits of enrollment. Recipients of these programs should contact the Controller’s Office during the first week of classes to verify the residual amount of their fees not covered by their scholarship. If you have not accepted additional financial aid to pay this residual amount, it is your responsibility to pay the balance by the semester’s last day to pay deadline to avoid a late payment fee of $75.00. The semester last day to pay deadline dates can be accessed by clicking www.fau.edu/academic/registrar.acadcal.php Florida Medallion and Florida Gold Seal Scholarships will cover 75% of the actual tuition and fees and related lab fees; however, they do not pay for Owl Card, Orientation Fee, Transportation Access Fee, Feeds Fee, Repeat Course Surcharge, Late Payment Fee, Late Registration Fee, E-college Fees and Nursing Fees.
Federal Stafford Loan and Federal PLUS Loan Borrowers:
Please be advised that prior to disbursement, the loan amount listed on your account does not reflect loan fees deducted from your disbursement by your lender. On the average, the loan fee is 3% of your disbursement amount. This rate is subject to change. To illustrate, if you are scheduled to receive a $1,000 loan disbursement from a lender who assesses a 3% loan fee, the lender will send a net disbursement of only $970.00 to the school (the amount equating to 97% of $1,000).
If you do not have enough financial aid to cover all your charges for the semester, or are unsure of the amount you will need to pay, please check with the Controller’s Office during the first week of school.
In cases where your charges exceed your financial aid award, it is your responsibility to pay the amount of any uncovered charges by the semester’s last day to pay deadline to avoid a late payment fee of $75.00. The last day to pay deadline is listed on the Academic Calendar, which may be viewed by clicking http://www.fau.edu/registrar/acadcal.php
The Controller’s Office will not be able to determine when your financial aid will be disbursed. You would have to check with the Financial Aid Office regarding the disbursement dates. Once your financial aid has been disbursed, you can see the activities are on your students account on line:
