Florida Atlantic University Hosts Sixth Annual Health Fair
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (January 20, 2006)
- Florida Atlantic University is hosting
its sixth annual health fair on February 1, from 10
a.m. to 2 p.m. on FAU's Davie campus, 2912 College
Ave. "You Have the Power - Over Your Health!" is
designed to encourage greater public health
awareness.
"The health fair showcases a wide variety of
resources in a single event," said Dr. Don Torok,
FAU associate professor, chair and health fair
advisor. "We aim to provide access to information
and agencies. Through these opportunities, we can
educate and inspire healthier communities."
More than 45 vendors will be participating
in the event, including the American Cancer
Society, the American Lung Association, Community
Blood Centers of Florida and Women in Distress. The
available services include screenings for blood
pressure, body composition and cholesterol. A blood
drive is also being coordinated. In addition to
these activities, the health fair will include free
food, a rock climbing wall and a live DJ.
