FAU School of the Arts Premier Music Series Presents the Florida Woodwind Quintet
BOCA RATON, FL (January 18, 2006)
- Florida Atlantic University's School of
the Arts presents the Florida Woodwind Quintet in
concert on Sunday, January 22 at 3 p.m. The concert
will be presented at the University Theatre on
FAU's Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. General
admission is $15 with group discounts available.
FAU students, faculty, staff and alumni may obtain
free admission with ID.
The concert will include "Summer Music for
Woodwind Quintet," by Samuel Barber; "Sextet for
Piano and Woodwind Quintet," by Arthur Weisberg;
"Six Bagatelles," by Gyorgy Ligeti; and "Woodwind
Quintet No. 2 in E flat Major, Opus 88," by Anton
Reicha.
The Florida Woodwind Quintet is a new and
innovative ensemble that is making its mark
throughout the country. It is comprised of
musicians who are principal players in major
symphony orchestras such as the Florida Grand
Opera, Symphony of the Americas and the Atlantic
Classical Orchestra. Members include Paul Green,
clarinet; Elissa Lakofsky, flute; David Peel,
French horn; Robert Weiner, oboe; and Arthur
Weisberg, bassoon. The group is an
ensemble-in-residence at FAU.
The Premier Music Series is presented by the
School of the Arts' Department of Music in FAU's
Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, in
partnership with Bank of America and the Palm Beach
County Cultural Council. Other upcoming concerts in
the series include the Duo Turgeon on Sunday,
February 5 at 3 p.m., FAU's Four Conductors on
Sunday, April 2 at 3 p.m. and a special
presentation of Mozart's Requiem Mass on Tuesday,
April 18 at 8 p.m.
