FAU's Top Music Students Perform
"The Art of Music" in Jupiter
JUPITER, FL (January 17, 2006) - Florida Atlantic University's School of the Arts will present a concert by their top music students in "The Art of Music" on Sunday, January 29 at the John D. MacArthur campus auditorium at 5353 Parkside Drive, Jupiter. The afternoon will start with a "Conversation with the Artists" at 2:30 p.m., followed by the concert at 3 p.m. and a champagne reception at 4:30 p.m. General admission is $20 and proceeds from the concert will benefit FAU's department of music scholarship fund. FAU students may obtain free admission with ID, faculty and staff tickets are half-price.
The concert will feature piano solos and woodwind ensembles, including works by Mozart, Chopin, Brahms, Haydn, Copland and others.
The concert host committee includes Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters Dean William Covino and his wife Deborah Covino, Jupiter campus Vice President Kristen Murtaugh and her husband Dan Murtaugh, local attorney John Flanigan and his wife Janet Flanigan.
"We are pleased to highlight the outstanding talent of our students," said Dean Covino. "We look forward to a wonderful afternoon of outstanding musical performance."
