FAU to Host Reality TV Event
BOCA RATON, FL (November 15, 2005)
-Florida Atlantic University's Career Development Center in
Broward will host for the second year - "Reality Bites: The
Real Corporate Experience," a reality television event that
prepares FAU juniors, seniors and graduate students for
future employment.
The final taping, which will include closing
interviews with the ten finalists, will be on Wednesday,
November 16 at 5 p.m. in the FAU Davie Campus Auditorium in
the Liberal Arts Building, 2912 College Avenue. It will be
broadcast on OWL TV.
In order to participate, FAU students were required
to submit an application that included a current posting of
a position that is applicable to their major, a resume and
a videotape of them explaining their qualifications for a
corporate job. Once the ten finalists were selected, they
received feedback regarding their application.
The finalists include men and women of diverse
academic backgrounds, two of whom are from the Jupiter
campus, including one student from the Honors College and
one graduate student. Now, the finalists will be filmed as
they participate in a business wardrobe shopping
experience, business luncheon, company tour and job
interviews.
The winner will receive business-related gifts,
including career coaching, a business suit, professional
image consulting and a laptop computer. Those interested in
attending the final taping must have an invitation, which
can be obtained by contacting the Broward Center Career
Development Center at 954-236-1214 or
browardcareers@fau.edu.
"Reality Bites will allow students to gain practical
experience in activities that are a part of the job search
process, while connecting them to employers in our business
community," said Carolyn Stewart, associate director at the
Career Development Center. "At FAU, we pride ourselves in
using a holistic approach to learning and apply these
principals in preparing our students to meet the needs of
our community and employers."

event, including City Furniture, Merrill Lynch, Bonefish
Grill, Jobing.com, Enterprise rent-a-car, Dillard's, the
