Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at FAU Establishes Endowed Scholarship Fund for Outstanding Students


BOCA RATON, FL (September 14, 2005) - The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at Florida Atlantic University is delighted to announce the establishment of an endowed fund that will provide scholarships to outstanding students.

Three past presidents of the honor society, Dr. William B. Stronge, Dr. Ronald R. Schultz '66 and Dr. Eric H. Shaw '72, '73, will collectively double all donations made to the Phi Kappa Phi endowment fund up to the amount of $10,000 during 2005. If you wish to contribute to Phi Kappa Phi's scholarship fund, please make checks payable to the Florida Atlantic University Foundation, Inc., and designate "Phi Kappa Phi Scholarship #40-140100" in the memo line.

Phi Kappa Phi, founded in 1897, is the oldest, largest and most prestigious honor society in the United States, recognizing and rewarding scholarly achievement in all fields of academic endeavor. The Society's mission is "To recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others."

Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is by invitation only to those students who have achieved scholastic excellence. With more than 300 local chapters, the national organization awards more than $500,000 in scholarships each year. The FAU chapter of Phi Kappa Phi was established in 1971 and currently awards $10,000 in scholarships annually.
