Dr. Boykin has been a faculty member at Florida Atlantic University since 1981. She has served as the dean of the College of Nursing since 1984 and is the director of the Christine E. Lynn Center for Caring. Dr. Boykin also authored numerous book chapters and articles focused on caring, spirituality, nursing as a discipline and story as method for study of nursing.
"Anne's dedication to her colleagues and students is reflected in everything she does," said Dr. John Pritchett, FAU's Provost. "It gives me great joy to have Anne recognized as a positive example of the profession."
Now in its 25th year, the College of Nursing building is set to open later this year. The college's new home embodies a distinctive design philosophy, guided by the principals of Feng Shui and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The building will house an auditorium, classroom and seminar space, offices for staff and faculty, in addition to specifically designed spaces for students and the community, including a holistic practice area, sacred space for contemplation and self-renewal and a healing labyrinth garden. The educational technology offered through the College of Nursing will provide an opportunity to create innovative software for the study of nursing within a Caring philosophy.
