FAU to Hold Educator Certification Seminar
JUPITER, FL (April 14, 2005) - An Educator Certification Seminar will be held at Florida Atlantic University's campus in Jupiter on Tuesday, May 3 at 6 p.m. Conducted by the FAU College of Education, the seminar is for those interested in primary and/or secondary state teacher certification or for those who have started the certification process and are in need of assistance.
"Anyone with a bachelor's degree can begin the certification process. We are hosting this seminar to help elaborate on the general information that is provided by the state and to assist with the step-by-step process involved," said Greg Gilbert, academic advisor for the FAU College of Education. "The required coursework is offered at the MacArthur campus and can include graduate-level credits that may be applied towards some of the master's degree programs."
Advisors and faculty members from the College of Education will discuss the application process, the steps leading toward certification and how FAU can assist those applying. To be qualified for state certification, applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Seminar participants can apply for admission to FAU during the program by completing the non-degree seeking application, the residency form and immunization form. Those interested in starting certification courses immediately can register as a non-degree student for the summer and/or fall semester beginning May 9, 2005.
FAU's MacArthur Campus is located at 5353 Parkside Drive, in Jupiter's Abacoa community. The seminar will be held in the EC building, room 201. There is no charge to attend the seminar. For more information, contact Lauren Tedesco at 561-799-8135 or e-mail ltedesco@fau.edu.
