FAU to Hold Book Discussion and Signing

WHAT: Florida Atlantic University will hold two book discussions and signings with Senator George McGovern and Congressman Ken Hechler

WHEN: The McGovern event will be held on Friday, March 11 and the Hechler event will be Friday, March 4. Both signings will be at 7 p.m.

DESCRIPTION: Former congressman and presidential nominee George McGovern will discuss his new book The Essential America: Our Founders & the Liberal Tradition. In 1960, President John F. Kennedy named him director of the Food for Peace Program and Special Assistant to the President. In 1972, McGovern was selected as the presidential nominee for the Democratic Party.
Former congressman Ken Hechler will be signing two of his World War II classics, Bridge at Remagen and Hero of the Rhine. Hechler was the U.S. Army's historian during World War II and an interrogator of the Nazi officers after the war. Hechler was an aide to former U.S. Presidents Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman.
