Former White House Aide Ken Hechler to Speak at FAU Distinguished Lecture Series on American Presidency
BOCA RATON, FL (February 18, 2005) - Former Congressman Ken Hechler will speak at Florida Atlantic University as part of FAU's Distinguished Lecture Series on the American Presidency. Dr. Hechler will be speaking on his recollections of former United States Presidents Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman.
The lecture will be held on Thursday, March 3 at 9:45 a.m. on FAU's Jupiter campus at the Abacoa Crown Theater, 4688 Main Street, Jupiter and at 6:30 p.m. at FAU's Boca Raton campus, Lifelong Learning Auditorium, 777 Glades Rd.
Hechler was an aide to Roosevelt and served as a speechwriter for Truman for four years. He is a former member of Congress from West Virginia. One of his most notable experiences was being the only congressman to march with Martin Luther King, Jr. in Selma, Alabama.
Hechler is a best selling author, former US Army Historian during WWII, and former professor with Columbia, Princeton and Marshall Universities. He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University. Hechler's published books include the best seller, The Bridge at Remagen, which was made into a full-length movie. In addition, he has authored numerous articles and academic publications.
