FAU Hosts Dr. Sheldon H. Rifkin
to Speak on Forensic Psychology

PORT ST. LUCIE (February 9, 2005) - The FAU Treasure Coast Campus Psychology Association will host Dr. Sheldon H. Rifkin, Ph.D., P.A. on Wednesday, February 23 at 4 p.m. to speak on the topic of forensic psychology. The guest lecture will take place in the Treasure Coast campus’ CO building, room 225, located at 500 NW California Blvd. in St. Lucie West. The presentation is part of FAU’s annual Psychology Fair.

Dr. Rifkin has been practicing clinical and forensic psychology for more than 36 years. He attained his B.S. from Brooklyn College and his M.A. in Psychology from Temple University. Following his internship at Duke University Medical Center, Rifkin was awarded his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1968 from the University of Tennessee.

Since 1978, he has maintained a diversified general clinical practice with an emphasis on forensic evaluation and assessment, public and private school consultation and consultations with various divisions of the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services. He also provides assessment, evaluation and therapy to children, adults and families. Rifkin has served as an active forensic expert who has been recognized in the District Federal Court and throughout all four counties of the Circuit Court of the 19th Judicial Circuit in regard to criminal, civil, family and juvenile court cases. He also is an allied professional staff member of several area psychiatric hospitals.

Dr. Natalie Belenky, assistant professor of psychology at FAU, encourages the community to attend this event. “This is a great opportunity to see what life for a clinical psychologist specializing in forensic psychology is like,” she said.
