9/11 Commission Staff to Speak at FAU's Distinguished Lecture Series on the American Presidency

BOCA RATON, FL (January 27, 2005) - Three 9/11 Commission staff members will speak on Thursday, February 3 as part of Florida Atlantic University's Distinguished Lecture Series on the American Presidency. They will host a national security town hall meeting, with a presentation, that will include a question and answer session moderated by FAU professor Robert Watson.

The town hall meeting will begin on Thursday, February 3 at 9:45 a.m. on FAU's Jupiter campus at the Abacoa Crown Theater, 4688 Main Street, Jupiter and at 6:30 p.m. at FAU's Boca Raton campus, Lifelong Learning Auditorium, 777 Glades Rd.

Director of Policy Alexis Albion is a former professional staff member for the 9/11 Commission. Albion served on the Commission's counterterrorism policy team, with a focus on investigating intelligence policy. She was involved in interviews with dozens of senior policy and intelligence officials, reviewed thousands of pages of "Top Secret" documents and co-organized the March 2003 public hearings of the highest-level officials of the Clinton and Bush administrations. Albion wrote staff statements, testified before the Commission on staff findings and was key in drafting the Commission's final report.

Senior Counsel Barbara Grewe is a former associate general counsel for the Government Accountability Office working on investigations of fraud in government operations or contracts. Grewe served as a special investigative counsel for the Department of Justice's Inspector General's 9-11 review. She is also the former assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.

Professional staff member Kevin Scheid is a senior intelligence service officer in the Office of the Deputy Director of Central Intelligence for Community Management. Scheid recently served as staff director of the President's Review of Intelligence tasked by President Bush in May 2001. As a career civil servant, he served for eleven years in various positions within the Office of Management and Budget at the White House.
