FAU to Offer Journalism Course in Spring
PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (December 8, 2004) - Florida Atlantic University's Treasure Coast Campus will offer a new course in the spring semester, Journalism 3101- "News and News Reporting." The course will expose students to all facets of the journalism business and is designed specifically for those who are either considering journalism as a career or simply want to understand more about the news media and how they operate.
"You will learn how to write in various styles, how to interview and how to report on different kinds of stories," said the class instructor William Church. "You'll also learn the importance of ethics in journalism and the legal challenges reporters face every day."
Church, a veteran news and public relations executive, encourages more than just future journalists to enroll. "Whether or not you eventually choose reporting as a career, the skills you learn in this course will help you to become a better writer, a better reader and hopefully a better thinker - skills that are important in every line of work and life."
Florida Atlantic University's spring semester begins Monday, January 10. Journalism 3101 is an upper-division course offered by the Communication Department in the FAU Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. To learn more, call the Treasure Coast Campus in Port St. Lucie at 772-873-3301 for admission and registration information.
