FAU Libraries Present an Online
Exhibition
"Jews in America's Military"
BOCA RATON, FL (December 23, 2004) - Florida Atlantic University Libraries announce "Jews in America's Military," an online exhibition available through FAU's website (www.fau.edu/library/depts/judaica9.htm), as its latest addition to the Molly S. Fraiberg Judaica Collection. Written and contributed by Seymour "Sy" Brody, a World War II veteran and author of "Jewish Heroes and Heroines of America," the exhibition traces Jewish service in America's armed forces from Colonial times to the present.
Brody's detailed historical account, combined with Art Seiden's illustrations, serves as an introduction to Jewish veterans past and present and provides information concerning the true extent of Jewish contribution to the United States military. "Jews in America's Military" commemorates the more than 1 million Jewish men and women who have served in the military--many giving their lives and even more receiving medals and citations for bravery. A curriculum guide and study outline to accompany the exhibition are provided.
"Jews in America's Military" is the fifth exhibition of Brody's to be hosted by the Libraries Special Collections Department. His other exhibitions include: "Jewish Heroes and Heroines of America: Colonial times to 1900," "Jewish Heroes and Heroines of America: 1900 to World War II," "Jewish Heroes and Heroines of America: World War II to the present" and "Jewish Recipients of the Medal of Honor."
All of Brody's exhibitions can be accessed through FAU's website.
