Michael Dukakis to Analyze 2004 Presidential Election at FAU Distinguished Lecture Series on the American Presidency
BOCA RATON, FL (November 18, 2004) - Former Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis will speak on December 2 and 3 as part of Florida Atlantic University's Distinguished Lecture Series on the American Presidency. His lecture will analyze the results of the 2004 presidential election.
Dukakis' lecture will begin on Thursday, December 2 at 6:30 p.m. at FAU's Boca Raton campus, Lifelong Learning Auditorium, 777 Glades Rd. and Friday, December 3 at 9:45 a.m. on FAU's Jupiter campus at the Abacoa Crown Theater, 4688 Main Street, Jupiter.
Dukakis won the Democratic nomination for the presidency of the United States in 1988. Before that, he was a three-term governor for the State of Massachusetts. He is credited with digging the state out of one of its worst financial and economic crises in history. In 1986, the National Governors' Association voted him the most effective governor in the nation.
Recently, Dukakis has been teaching
classes at different schools across America, including FAU,
University of Hawaii, UCLA and Northeastern University. While at
FAU, he served as the honorary chair of the university's
fundraising campaign to build the Lifelong Learning Auditorium,
the Boca Raton location for the lecture.
Dukakis was nominated by President Bill Clinton for a five
year term as a member of the Board of Directors of Amtrak, The
National Railroad Passenger Corporation. Today, he holds the
position of vice-chairman of the Amtrak Reform Board.
