Pine Jog Names New Board Chair

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (August 31, 2004)- Florida Atlantic University's Pine Jog Environmental Education Center, a part of the College of Education, recently installed a new board chairman and bid farewell to out-going Chair Jeff Koons, Palm Beach County Commissioner for District 2.

Michael Davis, vice president of environmental and planning for Keith and Schnars, P.A., was elected chairman of Pine Jog for the 2004-2005 calendar year. Davis has served as a Pine Jog board member and chairman-elect during the last two years, and has a notable background in environmental policy.

"Michael has played a critical role in the development of plans for our new public trails and visitor facilities. He will be the driving force behind this project's completion," said Pat Welch, executive director of Pine Jog. "We are very fortunate to have him chair the Board for 2004-2005."

Pine Jog is an environmental education center with 150-acres for day use located on Jog Road and Summit Boulevard, and a 252-acre residential facility at the Youth Conservation Camp in the Corbett Wildlife Management Area in West Palm Beach. Pine Jog provides services that include children's programs, family events and public programs. Pine Jog's mission is to develop, provide and model environmental education programs that foster an awareness and appreciation of the natural world.
