FAU Law Enforcement Officer Receives Leadership Award

BOCA RATON, FL (May 10, 2004) - Florida Atlantic University's Acting Police Chief Dee Danser recently received the "Breaking the Glass Ceiling Award" from the National Center for Women & Policing. This award is presented to female police officers who have achieved the rank of major, commander or above, as well as the equivalent ranks for civilian positions.

"I am very honored to receive this award and I appreciate the opportunities that the University has afforded me in the past, as well as the continued support in my current position," said Danser. "I enjoy serving the FAU community."

According to the National Center for Woman & Policing, only 11.2 % of law enforcement officers nationwide are women and only a small percentage of those achieve the rank of major or above. For more information on women in police ranks, call 310-556-2526.
