The santoor is played with a pair of curved sticks make of walnut wood and it produces a variety of lively tonal effects reminiscent of the piano and the harp.

Nandkishor Muley is a senior disciple of Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma. He currently resides in Berlin, Germany. In 2001, he was awarded the Excellent Art and Cultural Educator award from the United Arts of Florida for his contribution of Indian music and culture. In 1994, he won the German Grammy Award.
