Study Reveals FAU Has Strong Economic Impact On Southeast Florida
BOCA RATON, FL (May 19, 2004) - What effect, in dollars and cents, does Florida Atlantic University have on its service region in Southeast Florida? A recent study conducted by FAU's Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Analysis points out that FAU is gaining strength as a powerful engine of economic activity throughout its seven county service area.
Highlights of the study include:
-
FAU's economic impact on Palm Beach, Broward and St. Lucie counties in fiscal year 2003 exceeded $1 billion.
-
For every dollar the state of Florida invested in FAU in 2003, the University returned more than $8 to the local economy.
-
FAU directly or indirectly supports 8,500 jobs.
-
FAU's overall economic impact has increased by almost 50 percent since the last study five years ago.
An executive summary of the study is attached. If you have questions, contact the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Analysis at 561-297-2665.
