FAU Offers Intensive Dual Enrollment High School
BOCA RATON, FL (April 7, 2004) - Florida Atlantic University's Board of Trustees recently granted conditional approval to the concept of an intensive dual enrollment public high school on FAU's Boca Raton campus. The school will offer high school students the opportunity to earn high school credits and university course hours at the same time at no cost. All expenses such as tuition, fees (except parking and a student activity fee) and books are covered. The FAU High School is set to open August 2004.
A public information session for those families interested in applying to the high school will be held on Wednesday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Auditorium on FAU's Boca Raton campus. For additional information and an online application to the FAU High School, visit www.coe.fau.edu/fau-high. In addition to the application, three letters of recommendation, transcripts, test scores and any other related documentation are required. The application deadline is Tuesday, April 20 at 4 p.m. with all supporting materials due on Friday, April 23 at the A.D. Henderson University School.
Currently, the A.D. Henderson University School on FAU's Boca Raton campus serves approximately 500 students in grades K-8. The initiative for the new FAU High School is designed around two components: an innovative, rigorous curriculum for all students and an intensive, dual enrollment component that makes use of existing postsecondary facilities and faculties.
