FAU Hosts International Arts In Healing Conference
BOCA RATON, FL (April 1, 2004) - Florida Atlantic University's College of Nursing will present a conference featuring Dr. Jean Watson and Dr. Mary Rockwood Lane, renowned experts in the field of arts in healing, entitled "The Second International Arts In Healing Conference." The lectures will take place on Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18 in the Live Oak Pavilion of FAU's Boca Raton Campus, 777 Glades Road.
The conference is for those who share the commitment to advancing the integration of artistic expressions and therapies into healing practices. The three major foci of the event are aesthetics in health care, knowledge of development and clinical applications of the arts as healing modalities. Current research related to the use of the arts in healing will be presented. Additionally, the conference will highlight experiential activities used to create healing environments and explores the use of the arts in the promotion of health and wellness.
Watson is a distinguished professor of nursing and holds an endowed chair in caring science at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She is the founder of the original Center for Human Caring in Colorado and is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
