FAU Community and Lions Club to Collect Eyeglasses
BOCA RATON, FL (March 26, 2004)
Florida Atlantic Universitys American College of Health Care Administrators
(ACHCA), the Health Administration Alumni and the Bahamian Student Association,
in partnership with the Lions Club of Boca Raton, will collect new, used and broken
eyeglasses as part of the 11th Annual Eyeglass Drive. The eyeglasses will be repaired
and distributed by the Lions Club to underprivileged individuals who cannot afford
eyeglasses. Eyeglasses can be dropped off
at FAUs College of Business, Deans Office, Business East, room 129,
the Student Services Support Building and the S.E. Wimberley Library on the Boca
Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. The FAU Eyeglass
Drive, which will continue through Friday, April 16, is organized by Dennis Palkon,
professor of health administration in FAUs College of Business; and business
students and officers in the ACHCA, Rachael Lightbourne, president; Rosa Fuste,
vice president of marketing and advertising; Janice Medina, secretary and Ron
Barak, treasurer. To date, FAU students and
alumni have collected more than 10,000 eyeglasses. Lions Clubs throughout the
