FAU's "Coffee with the
Professor" Features Dr. Jon Moore on "Mountaineering
5000 Feet Below the Ocean Surface"
JUPITER, FL (March 9, 2004) -
Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter will present
Dr. Jon Moore as part of the "Coffee with the
Professor" series at 8 a.m. on Friday, March 19. The
presentation, "Mountaineering 5000 Feet Below the
Ocean Surface," will take place in the campus dining
hall at 5353 Parkside Drive, Jupiter.
Dr. Moore is an assistant
professor of biology in the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors
College. He has spent several summers investigating
the New England Seamount Chain in Woods Hole
Oceanographic's research submarine named "Alvin." Dr.
Moore incorporates his research experience in
teaching marine biology and as a guest lecturer in
oceanography.
Each session of the "Coffee
with the Professor" series is comprised of a 20
minute talk by an FAU faculty member, followed by Q
& A and discussion. Coffee and continental
breakfast are served.
The event is free and open to
the public. Seating is limited and reservations are
