FAU Student Awarded Prestigious Co-Op Student Of The Year Award
BOCA RATON, FL (September 10, 2003) - For the second year in a row, a student from Florida Atlantic University's College of Engineering has been awarded the prestigious Co-op Student of the Year award, presented by the Florida Career Professionals Association (FCPA), a networking and professional development organization for businesses, universities and junior colleges in the state of Florida. This is the first time in FCPA's 35 year history that one particular school has received back to back awards.
David Newborn, the 2003 FCPA Award recipient, is a student in FAU's Ocean Engineering department. Currently, he is working his final co-op semester with the Naval Surface Warfare Center in West Bethesda, Maryland.
The cooperative education program is a unique plan of education that integrates classroom learning with planned, supervised, multiple work experiences. Co-op students obtain on-the-job work experiences that are directly related to their academic majors in private, public and governmental organizations. Co-op students earn both a salary and academic credit.
