FAU Faculty Featured at Museum of Contemporary Art Video Screening
BOCA RATON, FL (July 28, 2003) - The works of two Florida Atlantic University faculty were selected for a video screening at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in North Miami. The screening, which took place Friday, July 18, was part of the event "Optic Nerve V: An Evening of Contemporary Video."
Optic Nerve is a juried exhibition of work by South Florida film and video artists that is now in its fifth season. It includes work shot in a range of formats and genres, with a focus on short-form experimental work.
Eric Freedman, assistant professor of Communication at FAU's Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, presented his film "(Desiring) Engine Number Nine." It is a lyrical exploration of sexuality framed by the popular discourses of the postwar suburban housing boom. The work of Geoffrey Thomas, a new faculty member at FAU, was also featured.
