FAU Exhibitions To Be Extended To May 15
BOCA RATON, FL (April 1, 2003) Due to overwhelming response, Florida Atlantic Universitys (FAU) Arie A. Galles: Fourteen Stations and Images of Intolerance exhibitions will be extended through Thursday, May 15. The exhibitions are on display at the Schmidt Center Gallery at FAUs Boca Raton campus, which is located at 777 Glades Road in Boca Raton.
The Arie A. Galles: Fourteen Stations exhibition is Arie Galles response to the Holocaust and consists of large-scale aerial drawings of concentration camps, each accompanied by a brief poem, authored by Jerome Rothenberg.
Images of Intolerance includes images depicting examples of intolerance selected from the Art of Hatred, which was displayed in 2001 at the Sanford L. Ziff Jewish Museum in Miami Beach. For this presentation, the images have been blown up to an extremely large scale to both shock and surprise students and public audiences that visit the gallery. Henry Abramson, Ph.D., FAU associate professor of Holocaust and Judaic studies, selected the images.
Gallery hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 12 4 pm; Wednesday: 12 6 pm; and Saturday: 1 5 pm. The gallery is closed on Sunday and Monday.
These programs are made possible in part by Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, Florida Arts Council. The Interdisciplinary Planning Committee, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters provided partial funding for the series.
