FAU Receives Gift To Support Heart Research
BOCA RATON, FL (April 29, 2003) -- Florida Atlantic University received $120,000 from the American Heart Association for the establishment of the E.M. Lynn Foundation Congenital Heart Disease Research Program to support ongoing heart research at FAU.
"Mrs. Lynn's generosity is evident in the many gifts she has given FAU," said Dr. Nathan Dean, dean and professor of the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. "Her contribution to scientific research continues to support our ongoing mission to improve quality of life."
Lynn's donation will support three different research projects being conducted at FAU, including the research by Dr. Larry Lemanski, vice president for research and professor of biomedical sciences, who is studying ways to repair damaged cells in heart muscles caused by heart attacks.
