FAU Presents Lecture: "Reagan, Gorbachev and the End of the Cold War"
BOCA RATON, FL (April 9, 2003) -Florida Atlantic University presents a public lecture on "Reagan, Gorbachev, and the End of the Cold War," on Friday, April 18, at 12:00 p.m. in the Majestic Palm Room of FAU's University Center on the Boca Raton campus. The lecture will be given by Robert J. McMahon, Ph.D., professor of history at the University of Florida, and a noted historian of U.S. foreign policy in the 20th century. Admission is free.
McMahon has published numerous books and articles on U.S. foreign policy, with topics such as the origins of the cold war, U.S. policy toward Southeast Asia and the legacy of the Vietnam War. His books include "The Limits of Empire: The United States and Southeast Asia Since World War II," and "The Cold War on the Periphery: The United States, India, and Pakistan." The event is cosponsored by Department of History at the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, the United Nations Club and the Peace Studies Program.
