FAU Gets Workforce Florida Grant; 200 Trainees Sought
BOCA RATON, FL (March 28, 2003) -- Florida Atlantic Universitys Open University and Continuing Education (OUCE) program has been awarded a $400,000 Workforce Florida contract to train unemployed workers and career changers. The one-year grant will enable FAU to recruit 200 unemployed or underemployed workers into four certificate programs: Construction Management, Information Technology, Legal Assistant and Interior Design. Most, if not all, of the enrollment fees will be covered by the grant.
We are delighted that Workforce Florida has elected to work with FAU to help prepare the workforce of South Florida with the skills and specialized training needed in this economy, said OUCE Dean B. Ray Holland. We appreciate the confidence this expresses in the quality and relevance of our continuing education programs.
Anyone interested in enrolling in one of the certification programs should contact Gene Kirkham at 561-297-2073 or gkirkham@fau.edu.
