Ramaswamy Narayanan Appointed Associate Dean for Research and Industrial Relations in FAU’s College of Science

BOCA RATON , FL (December 20, 2006) – Gary W. Perry, dean of the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science of Florida Atlantic University, recently appointed Dr. Ramaswamy Narayanan to the position of Associate Dean for Research and Industrial Relations for the College.  

            Narayanan, who was a scientist with Hoffmann-La Roche, joined the faculty at FAU in 1995 as a professor of biological sciences.   During this time, he has continued his research in the area of molecular biological aspects of cancer.   Narayanan uses cancers of the breast, prostate, lung, pancreas and colon to study and develop bioinformatics (computational) approaches for target identification and validation to enable drug discovery for cancer treatment.  

            While continuing his research, in the position of associate dean, Narayanan will be responsible for the oversight of all of the college research activity, and developing relationships and partnerships with various people in the industry on a local and national level.

            “Ram is clearly well qualified to fulfill this important position in the College,” said Perry.  

            Narayanan’s will begin in his new role on January 1, 2007.
