FAU Presents Symphony Orchestra Concert Featuring Winners of Recent Concerto and Aria Competition

            BOCA RATON, FL (November 8, 2006) – The department of music in Florida Atlantic University’s School of the Arts presents its symphony orchestra in a concert featuring winners of the Concerto and Aria Competition that was recently held for FAU students.   The concert, which will be conducted by Laura Joella, will be held on Sunday, November 12 at 3 p.m. in the University Theatre on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road.   Admission is free, with donations accepted at the door.

            The winners of the recent competition are Daniel Brecht-Haddad, who will be playing Ney Rosarua’s “Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra”; Matthew J. Daniels, with Georges Bizet’s “Votre Toast” (The Toreador Song) from Carmen; Samuel Heine, with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Concerto for Clarinet”; Robyn Lamp with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Batti, Batti” from Don Giovanni; Brian Mirsky with Dmitri Shostakovich’s “Piano Concerto No. 2”; Ana Flávia Zuim Moretto with George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue for Piano and Orchestra”; Cong Qin with Cécile Chaminade’s “Concertino for Flute”; and Ines Radulova with Robert Schumann’s “Piano Concerto.”
