FAU’s Department of Mechanical Engineering Announces Continuing Education Courses for Practicing Engineers
BOCA RATON, FL (November 6, 2006) – Florida Atlantic University’s Mechanical Engineering department is pleased to offer a series of continuing education courses for practicing engineers to enhance their technical expertise in specific areas of study. These classes are not for academic credit, but a certificate of completion will be awarded to each attendee.
The program will be presented on five consecutive Saturdays. Classes will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the scheduled days at FAU’s Boca Raton campus. On-site classes are available for a large group from a single company. Four courses are currently being offered - Mechanics of Composite Materials and Structures, Computational Fluid Dynamics and FLUENT, Failure Analysis and Prevention, and Six-Sigma – Road Map to Process Optimization. Additional topics or a customized training program can be arranged with the appropriate enrollment.
Each course is $1,500 per student and includes instructional material, coffee and lunch. Companies in Palm Beach County that are interested in the program may contact Workforce Alliance to apply for a grant that provides matching financial resources of 50 percent of the requested training costs.
