FAU Jupiter’s Lifelong Learning Society Takes Learning to the High Seas

            JUPITER, FL (October 9, 2008) – More than 70 students from the Lifelong Learning Society at Florida Atlantic University’s Jupiter campus recently spent two weeks aboard an Oceania cruise ship, “The Nautica.” The trip began in Istanbul, Turkey, continued to Greece and ended in Italy. Dr. Jeffrey Morton, a professor in the political science department at FAU, provided several lectures on topics such as terrorism in the Middle East, the presidential candidates and foreign policy.

“This was the first trip that Lifelong Learning students have taken together,” said René Friedman, director of FAU’s Lifelong Learning Society in Jupiter. “It was an amazing experience to learn about the different countries from the lectures, and then step off the boat and visit the monuments and places.”

Students participated in small roundtable discussions with Dr. Morton and shore excursions created especially for the FAU Lifelong Learning Society.
