Catch Me If You Can Author to Speak at FAU

BOCA RATON, FL (October 30, 2006) – The Florida Atlantic University Foundation, Inc. will host an event with best-selling author Frank W. Abagnale on Wednesday, November 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the University Theater on FAU’s Boca Raton campus.  Sponsored by Morgan Stanley, this event will spotlight Abagnale, one of the world’s most famous con men.

A leading authority on forgery, embezzlement and identity theft, Abagnale will begin the afternoon with a lecture, to be followed by a two-hour seminar. Imprisoned forty years ago for cashing fraudulent checks that totaled $2.5 million over a five year period of time, Abagnale was a master imposter as well.   He was released after a five-year prison term on the condition that he would help the U.S. government, without remuneration, by teaching and assisting federal law enforcement agencies.   Abagnale has been associated with the FBI for more than 30 years.  His life was depicted in his best-selling autobiography Catch Me if You Can and was the subject of Steven Spielberg’s major motion picture of the same name in 2002.

There is limited seating available for this event. For additional information or to reserve a seat, call 561-843-1331.   The media are invited to cover both the lecture and the seminar.
