FAU Dean Receives Italian American Educators Award

BOCA RATON, FL (April 7, 2006) – Florida Atlantic University recently announced that Anthony Julian Tamburri, associate dean for Research, Graduate and Interdisciplinary Programs of the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, received the Association of Italian American Educators (AIAE) Award for promotion of Italian language and culture. The award, according to an announcement by Giuseppe Battista, director of the AIAE, “honors outstanding Italian American educators from various areas and recognizes the accomplishments and dedicated efforts of individuals … who exemplify the positive image of Italian Americans in the field of education.”

Tamburri, who is a professor in the department of Languages, Linguistics and Comparative Literature at FAU, was also recently elected vice president/president-elect of the American Association of Teachers of Italian, North America’s oldest academic association for Italian studies. Later this spring, Tamburri’s ninth book, “ Narrare altrove: ovvero diverse segnalature letterarie” (Franco Cesati Editore), will be published in Italy.
