The Lifelong Learning Society's fall 2007 courses start Nov. 12 on the Treasure Coast. An exciting
series of lectures will be offered, including art, music, history,
literature, the environment, philosophy, current events and more. FAU hosts
the nation's largest Lifelong Learning Society, and for three decades, has
provided entertaining and enriching courses for the adult community. All
sessions are taught by FAU professors and distinguished guest lecturers.
Classes will be held at FAU's Treasure Coast campus in St. Lucie West and at
the Vero Beach Museum of Art. The following four-week courses are featured
this fall:
- Florida in Literature
- The World's Greatest Operas Never Seen
- Can We Save The Everglades?
- Great Works of Western Literature and Philosophy, Part I
- Florida's Natural History and Science
- England: A Unique Institution
- Milestones in American Music: A Personal Journey, Part I
Membership in FAU's acclaimed Lifelong Learning Society is expected
to reach record levels this year. "Our continued success and growth is due
to the outstanding faculty, institutional support, excellent teaching
facilities and sustained support from the community throughout FAU's service
area. The syllabus is also a varied one that represents the interests of
the Lifelong Learning Society students," said Ely Meyerson, assistant
provost for lifelong learning, who has directed the program since 1995.
The Treasure Coast Lifelong Learning Society program has just
completed its first year of operation, and more community members are

New Nursing Director
The Treasure Coast campus welcomed Elizabeth
Pross, Ph.D., RN this semester. Pross, who serves as a director and
assistant professor of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, comes to
FAU with 27 years of nursing experience, including 14 years in higher
education. "It is exciting to be a part of FAU's prestigious Christine E Lynn
College of Nursing because of its nationally and internationally recognized
dean and faculty, unique caring philosophy and rich community partnerships," said Pross.
Pross is actively involved in research, including the study of
environment and health, caring in education and at the bedside, integrated
healing modalities, and international nursing.

Development, Alumni Affairs Coordinator
Jack B. Aylor joined the Treasure Coast campus this fall as the coordinator for development and alumni programs.
Aylor joins the Treasure Coast campus after 17 years as director of
development at Frostburg State University in Maryland, where he also served
as executive director of the FSU Foundation, Inc. "This is an exciting time to be associated with Florida Atlantic University.
The Treasure Coast campus is an important regional resource with tremendous
potential. I look forward to meeting and working with the many outstanding
FAU alumni, friends and business partners along the Treasure Coast," said
Aylor.
In addition to generating private support dollars for Florida Atlantic
University at the Treasure Coast campus through the FAU Foundation, Inc.,
Aylor will promote FAU alumni-related programs and activities.
