Translucent Luminous Paintings, an exhibition of artwork by Sara L. Fisher (pictured at left) and part of the "Art in the Atrium" series, is currently on display in the Student Resources (SR) Building Atrium on the John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter. In her distinctive style, Fisher paints high intensity dyes on transparent film, layers the paintings over collaged papers or fabrics and encloses them between sheets of artist's acrylic. Fisher developed this technique after many years of experience in fine arts, illustration and interior design in an effort to capture the intensity and beauty of the South Florida foliage and landscape. Special hardware suspends the artwork six to eight inches from the wall without frames.
"I attempt to capture in two dimensions the emotion of how we experience a moment in life by my use and exploration of color, light, transparency and water. South Florida's environment and quality of light is my perfect muse. I believe my love of Florida, color and nature are conveyed through my work. I hope to bring people the same joy and peace I feel when I am painting and remind them of a simpler time," Fisher said.
Fisher, a resident of Jupiter, holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Her recent shows include exhibits at DeGraaf Fine Arts in West Palm Beach and Broadway Gallery in Fort Lauderdale.
An opening reception will be held on Friday, Sept. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the SR Atrium. The reception is free and open to the public. An RSVP is requested to Judi Bowe at (561) 799-8531 or jbowe@fau.edu. The exhibit runs through Oct. 28.
