Learning Communities help you make a fast, smooth, and easy transition to FAU!
Connect with 20-24 other students who share similar interests by taking your core classes together your freshman year. Learning Communities make it easier to meet people, make friends and form study groups while connecting you through shared experiences and themed activities.
OVER 25 different communities to choose from!
In a Learning Community you will:
Get to know people and make friends in your major or area of interest from the 1st day
Build relationships to make FAU’s campus feel more personal
Maximize your academic success
Get connected to FAU resources
Increase your likelihood to graduate on time
Develop a supportive network consisting of other students, peer mentors, and professors
Two program options to choose from!
Residential Learning Community (RLC) Program
The RLC program is for students who live on-campus. Students in RLCs are connected through a FULL course schedule (12-16 credits/4-7 classes) based on their major or interest. RLC students have the benefit of living and studying together in Glades Park Towers (GPT) on the same floor as the rest of their learning community.
As a student in an RLC you also have the advantage of using FAU’s Get Wise Center that is located in the lobby of GPT! RLC students can get tutoring, advising, and career counseling without ever leaving their building!
Commuting Connections Learning Community (CCLC) Program
The CCLC is a program for students who live off-campus and commute to campus. CCLC students are connected through a FULL course schedule (12-16 credits/4-7 classes) based on their major or interest.
**Learning Communities are open to Boca Campus Freshmen ONLY.
***Music majors, Architecture majors, Navitas Students, Honors College, and University Honors Program students and students with prior credit for a student success course are not eligible to join the Learning Community program
