GoAnthony James Catanese Center for Urban & Environmental Solutions (CUES)

The Anthony James Catanese Center for Urban & Environmental Solutions' mission is to work with policy-makers and the public in their pursuit of options for managing growth while preserving natural systems, promoting a strong economy and planning livable communities. The center achieves its mission through a combination of applied research, academic support, and community outreach. Our faculty and staff include a full-time director, nine full-time research associates and assistants, four administrative and clerical support staff, coordinators of computer applications and research information, and graduate assistants. The research staff is multi-disciplinary with expertise in planning, public policy, economics, and the social sciences. We also rely on partnerships with other entities within and outside Florida Atlantic University to maximize our resources and enhance our ability to serve the needs of a growing South Florida.

GoCommunity Justice Institute (CJI)

The Community Justice Institute (CJI), a research center of the College for Design and Social Inquiry at Florida Atlantic University, enhances public safety and community prevention objectives while also addressing the university's research and service mission. The specific objective of the CJI is to serve as a conduit for local, state, and national research, training, technical assistance, and education related to initiatives which seek to involve citizens and neighborhood groups in prevention, sanctioning, offender reintegration, and victim restoration. Such initiatives include, but are not limited to, community policing, citizen sanctioning panels, community service, family group conferencing, victim-offender dialogue, youth development, and mentoring/service learning initiatives. The CJI has a cross-disciplinary approach and utilizes faculty from the College and University.

GoJohn Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government (IOG)

Established in 1982 as an affiliate of the Florida Institute of Government to address the needs of state, regional, and local governments and non-profit agencies in our 10-county region covering Broward, Glades, Hendry, Indian River, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties.

GoInstitute for Design and Construction (IDaC)

The Institute for Design and Construction is committed to providing effective resources for affordable continuing education intended to improve increased awareness of best practices for the health, safety, and welfare for consumers and professionals associated with the allied design and construction trades.

GoPublic Procurement Research Center (PPRC)

The mission of the Public Procurement Research Center is to assist the NIGP in providing research and technical assistance, education and training, and publications. The Center, launched in 1999, has now completed its initial formulation and strategic planning and is on the verge of articulating and expanding its services for the over 500,000 government procurement professionals in the United States and numerous counterparts in other countries, including Canada, Ireland, etc.

GoVisual Planning Technology Lab (VPT Lab)

The Visual Planning Technology (VPT) Lab was established in 1987 and is located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale. The VPT Lab’s mission is to advance research and knowledge on the application of geospatial and visual planning technologies for public and private sector planning and decision-making. The VPT Lab accomplishes this mission through: research and creative activities; teaching and Instruction, outreach and public engagement in line with the mission of Florida Atlantic University.
