What is a CCEW Writing Consultation?
The CCEW's fifty-five minute, one-on-one, individualized writing consultations are developed to assist clients with a wide array of writing tasks and related skills. By administering a set of diagnostics during an initial in-take consultation, and monitoring skill development through frequent progress reports, the CCEW will help clients systematically track their growth, so they may excel in their academic and professional endeavors.

Who is Eligible to Receive Consulting Services from the CCEW?
To be eligible to receive consulting services from the CCEW, you may not be currently qualified to receive consulting services from FAU's University Center for Excellence in Writing (UCEW). FAU full- and part-time undergraduate and graduate students, staff, faculty, and visiting scholars may receive services from the UCEW. How Much Does a Writing Consultation Cost?
The CCEW offers both single sessions and competitively priced packages offered at a reduced hourly rate. All packages require the purchase of a two-hour diagnostic intake consultation, which will help the CCEW staff identify and track a client's unique patterns of error. Please refer to the prices below for more information.
• $85 for one, 60-minute consultation, with no diagnostic consultation.
Should I purchase a single session or a package?
Consultation packages are designed for clients who want to dedicate themselves to improving their writing over time; thus, consultations occur regularly, typically once, twice, or three times a week for an hour at a time. If the writing instruction or assistance you require is more intermittent, single sessions may be more appropriate for your needs.
How do I Schedule an Appointment?
All payments for CCEW services must be paid in full, in advance, on our secure FAU Marketplace website. All payments are processed online. Only debit and credit card purchases are accepted. Additional sessions and packages may be purchased in the same manner. Clients are not to pay the director, manager, or the consultants directly. Clients should address all billing questions to the manager.
1) If purchasing a single session: Contact the CCEW Manager by phone or email. If the manager is not available to answer the phone, please leave a voicemail including your name, phone number, and reason for calling. The manager will make every effort to respond to your message in a timely manner. During your phone conversation, she will discuss the policies and procedures, check consultant availability, and send you a confirmation email containing the "Consulting Services Contract" (which must be filled out and sent back prior to the first consulting session). Once she has confirmed the date and time for you appointment, please visit FAU Marketplace website to purchase a session.
2) To purchase a package: Contact the CCEW Manager by phone or email. If the manager is not available to answer the phone, please leave a voicemail including your name, phone number, and reason for calling. The manager will make every effort to respond to your message in a timely manner, and will schedule an appointment for an in-person intake consultation. During the diagnostic consultation, she will discuss the details of the services with you. Should you decide to go forward and purchase a package, the manager will administer a diagnostic assessment and help you select an appropriate package that best suits your needs. You will be asked to pay for both the diagnostic consultation as well as the selected package on-site during the time of the in-take consultation. If you bring your own computer or want to use your smart phone, you may use it to make your purchace. Alternative, you may use one of the CCEW computers.
Please do not purchase a session or package on the Marketplace website without speaking to the manager, as we cannot guarantee you a particular appointment time before we have matched you with an appropriate consultant.
What are Your Policies on Refunds, Late Arrival, and Cancellations?
Refunds for Individual Sessions and Packages
Refunds will not be given for sessions. Any unused hours are non-refundable and must be used within a one-year period from the date of the original consulting agreement. Any sessions not used within one year will be forfeited, with no refund. However, hours are transferable to family and friends, though these new clients will be charged an additional in-take consultation rate ($100) in order for us to better understand their particular needs.
Late Arrival Policy
You should make every effort to contact the manager via phone call and email in the event of late arrival. If you arrive late for a consulting session, the session will still end at the
regularly scheduled time.
Cancellation of Sessions Policy
You should make every effort to contact the manager via phone call and email in the event of a cancellation.

What Should I Bring to a Writing Consultation?
Please bring all writing tasks, homework, books and supplies (i.e., paper, note cards, binder, etc.), and USBs (or other storage devices) to each session. While designated laptops will be available during the consultation, you are also encouraged to bring your laptop, if you have one.
