The following are required of applicants seeking admission to the MPA program. Final admission decision is based on GPA, GRE and other relevant factors.
1. The applicant must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited Institution.
2. The applicant must have at least a 3.0 (B) grade point average (GPA) covering the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate or graduate work or have a combined score of 1,000 or higher on the combined verbal and quantitative sections of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Applicants may substitute a GMAT score (must be 450 or higher) for the GRE. All applicants, regardless of undergraduate grades, must submit GRE or GMAT scores that are no more than five years old.
Admissions Process
In order to apply for acceptance into the MPA program, students need to follow this process:
1. Take the Graduate Record Examination (http://www.gre.com/) and send the scores to the FAU Admissions Office.
2. Complete the Graduate Admissions Application. You can submit your application online by going to http://wise.fau.edu/graduate/, or you can contact Dr. Sofia Santo (954.762.5662).
3. Have your official transcripts from all previous institutions sent to FAU Admissions Office.
Once the FAU Admissions Office has processed your application, your file will be sent to Fabio L. Rojas. If you meet all of the requirements, you will be formally accepted into the MPA program, and a letter of acceptance will be sent to you.
Credit Transfer
Students who have not applied for admission or who may have applied but have not yet been admitted to the MPA program, may register for up to fifteen (15) credit hours of course work as a non-degree seeking student. A maximum of fifteen (15) semester hours taken in non-degree status may be transferred to the MPA program without submitting a petition, if the courses were taken in the FAU MPA program and a grade of B or better was received in each course. Petitions are available from Dr. Sofia Santo.
If you have graduate-level credits that you believe can be transferred, you need to obtain a copy of the course syllabus and meet with Dr. Sofia Santo.
