A prototype design for a new generation of bus shelters for Broward County created by FAU student Laura Daniels

A prototype design for a new generation of bus shelters for Broward County created by Laura Daniels, a student at FAU's College of Architecture, Urban and Public Affairs, was selected by Broward County Transit for design development and implementation under a program for improving transit facilities countywide. Daniels is a full time mom with three children ages 5,2,and 1 and part-time student at the School of Architecture, one semester away from completing her studies. The project was developed as part of a design studio course assignment taught by Associate Professor Anthony Abbate. The design studio focuses on the public realm and design research on the social and physical attributes of public and semi-public space. The research is conducted by CAUPA's Broward Community Design Collaborative through a grant the Florida Department of Transportation.
