Purpose

The DeGrove Library’s working paper series is published by the College of Architecture, Urban and Public Affairs (CAUPA) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU).  This Series is CAUPA’s mechanism for peer and editorial feedback on manuscripts before submission for publication in academic journals.  The expectation is that most papers ultimately will be published in refereed journals.  Prior to publication, the working papers facilitate rapid dissemination of research findings to university, government, private and nonprofit sector researchers.  They also can be cited formally, like conference presentations.

Process

All CAUPA faculty members are encouraged to submit working papers to the Series.  The paper is reviewed by the DeGrove Eminent Scholar as editor of the Series, along with a Planning and an Architecture reviewer, and occasionally another faculty expert.  The review ensures a reasonable level of working draft quality.  The faculty member then revises the paper and submits it for final acceptance to the Series.  The paper is posted in the Library website under a special icon, which is reserved for each paper in the Series.  The paper now can be read or downloaded to computers by researchers in the CAUPA and other universities.
